There are two new cars with reserved spots in the Menlo College Parking lots.
What could make these two normal looking cars have such priority during a time which Menlo College students have parking lot wars?
These two cars were ordered from ZIP Car to provide cars to students with no form of transportation. Students have several options to choose from: the Mazda 3, Sedan, and the Honda CRV.
Being able to rent a car directly from school is a lot cheaper than having to rent a car from any "rent a car" service. The surcharge for this ZIP Car membership is $25 and ZIP Car gives you $50 worth of driving credit. In addition, it is $8 per- hour or $64 for the whole day.
According to students, both with cars and without cars, this is a great addition to campus life.
"Having a ZIP Car at school now means I will have the courage to ask girls out and be able to drive them without them having to drive me or without us having to take public transportation," said Menlo sophomore Jimmy Grant Go.
For the students at school who have cars this is also a great service.
"It's great to have something like this, because at Enterprise, which is right down the road to rent a car for a whole day you have to go there and book it and give them all the information they need and pay a whole lot of money, " said Nathan Sarmiento, a transfer student.
"But for ZIP Car all you have to do is sign up, which takes only five minutes and pre- book your car for when you want it," Sarmiento continued. "For people like me who love to go to Tahoe it's great because it's a cheap way to go without having to drive your own car!"
