Atherton, California Friday April 16th, Menlo College held the "Menlo Get Down." The "Menlo Get Down" was a concert put on by the Menlo KMXX radio club. The lineup included Bay Area rap artists such as RBL, 11-5, The Jacka, San Quinn, and Rappin 4-tay.

Tickets were free for Menlo students and $20 for non-Menlo students.

Walking up to the venue the concert go-er could see right away the four cop cars posted in the front parking lot. Outside of the gym there were more police and private security searching each person. It was also required to walk through a metal detector before entering the venue.

Monster, an energy drink company, sponsored the event and handed out free energy drinks.

Menlo offered complimentary non alcoholic beverages and food inside the student union as well as inside the venue.

Inside the gym was filled with high energy as DJ Dino, Dino Arancibia, started the night off by dropping some beats and some unscheduled performers came onto the stage for some pre-show entertainment.

The doors closed at 9:30 and re-entry was denied after that for safety reasons.

Looking around, the crowd was mainly dominated by non-Menlo students. Aaron Kingdom, Senior, said there were about 300 spectators throughout the night.

Amanda Torres, Sophomore said, "This concert was cool. It is nice when Menlo can put on an event like this, especially when it is free to Menlo students."

As the concert began clouds of smoke started to arise within the gym from marijuana use.

Sean Lent, President of the KMXX radio club, as well as the coordinator for the Menlo Get Down said, "Attendance wise this event was a success."
